Dr. Wendy Scinta is a nationally recognized expert on adult and childhood obesity treatment. Her BOUNCE program has received national and international attention and has been presented at multiple scientific assemblies and organizational meetings across the country. She recently published her first book entitled, BOUNCE: A Weight Loss Doctors Plan for a Happier, Healthier and Slimmer Child to help parents and caregivers of overweight children. Dr. Scinta is the President Elect of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, and was awarded their prestigious “Bariatrician of the Year” award at the Fall 2012 ASBP Obesity Conference, the 2013 Physician of the Year from CNY Business Journal’s Excellent in Health Care event in October, 2013, and most recently was voted one of 2014 America’s Top Doctors from the Consumers Research Council of America. Dr. Scinta’s practice, Medical Weight Loss of New York, has treated thousands of overweight and obese individuals, helping each lose weight and improve their health.
Dr. Scinta was the weight loss expert for the Steve Harvey Show, and has been featured on air by CNN, Voice of America, John Tesh Intelligence for you Health, NCC News, Say Yes To the Dress: Big Bliss Edition on TLC, PBS, as well as in print, including AMA News, The Denver Post, MD News, Newsday, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Parenting, Bariatric Times, Your Weight Matters, The Post-Standard of Syracuse, Syracuse Woman Magazine, Syracuse Parent Magazine, Web MD, Woman’s Day, Women’s E-News, and Woman’s Health Magazine, among others. She recently appeared in the 2014 documentary, “Carb Loaded- A culture dying to Eat.” She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate, Diplomat of the American Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Bariatric Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, and performed her residency in family medicine at Duke University.
As a former electrical and computer engineer, Dr. Scinta holds several patents in the fields of robotics and medical diagnostics. She has recently tapped back into her technical expertise as the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of One Stone Technology, a patient engagement software company that is focused on activating patients through personalized messaging.
