I wanted to write and thank you for the massive impact you have had on my life. I pastor a church with my wife and the lifestyle of a pastor means you can be up at any time to serve, and your work isn't contained in a nice, neat, 8 to 5, Monday through Friday package. Not only that, but it comes with the tremendous pressures of public speaking, hospital visits, discipleship, marriage counseling, crisis management, conflict resolution, business management, human resources, hiring and firing, prayer and fasting, holy living, and being put under scrutiny constantly for everything you think, say, and do. People who study careers say that being a pastor is one of the 3 most difficult, stressful, careers you can have.
One of the coping mechanisms I have used over the years to deal with the pressures of life is food. While I didn't always eat unhealthy, I always ate too much. I also had the problem of getting snack hungry late in the evening about 10pm which would lead to eating something crunchy and salty, usually potato chips.
My weight gain wasn't super fast, but put on 4 pounds per year over 25 years and it added up to a weight gain of about 100 pounds total since I was married to my wife in 1995. The added weight was depleting my energy, and in the last year I started to see my blood pressure rise, which led to my Dr. putting me on blood pressure medicine. I knew if I didn't make some changes, my health would really begin to deteriorate. The problem was, I tried many diets, but none of them worked long term, some of them not at all!
That's when God sent Dr. Wendy into my life, and I got on Dr. Wendy's 28 day weight loss program. My dad has a saying, it's, "you can't thwart reality". The meaning is that most people will revert back to what is easiest in life, taking the path of least resistance. If a diet or lifestyle is austere and difficult, it is destined to fail in the long run.
Dr. Wendy's system jump started my health, and in the first month I lost about 22lbs of weight! I learned some things that really helped me, like how to control cravings with Chromium Picolinate, how to exercise effectively during weight loss, and how to pace myself. Since I started her program I have incorporated what I have learned into an ongoing lifestyle and I am continuing to lose weight - I'm now down 32lbs after about 3 months!
I have wonderful new problems, like - having to buy new clothes that fit because my others are too big! I remember buying a new pair of jeans size 38, the first pair of pants in the 30's I had been able to buy in years, and how surprisingly emotional it was. I constantly get compliments about how I look, one couple said the almost didn't recognize me from 3 months ago!
Besides the change in appearance, my health is SO MUCH BETTER! I don't have all the joint pain I had before from carrying all that weight, and I've been able to get off my blood pressure medicine because now my blood pressure is normal!
The biggest impact is this had restored hope for my future about my physical well being, whereas in the past I felt doomed. I know is I continue this new lifestyle, I will simply continue getting great results, looking and feeling my best!
I want to be alive and healthy for my kids and grandkids in the future, and now I know I can be. Thank you Dr. Wendy, you've changed my life!
